Every year, we have the privilege of recognizing one educator who goes above and beyond, not just in their own classroom, but for the entire computer science education community. This year, that honor belongs to Latasha Moore.
Latasha is a Computer Science Teacher at Parkview Elementary School in the Meridian Public School District, and we are beyond proud to name her the Skill Struck Ambassador of the 2025-2026 School Year.
Meet Latasha Moore
Latasha brings 18 years of experience in education to her classroom, but her journey into computer science is one she did not see coming. When her principal first asked her to take on the role, her first instinct was self-doubt. Three years later, she teaches approximately 325 students each week, from kindergarten through 5th grade, and has built a CS classroom that students genuinely look forward to walking into.
That personal turning point shapes everything about how she teaches. Her motto: "Never say what you can't do without trying." She says it to her students every day, and she means it, because she has lived it.

What Makes Latasha's Classroom Special
Latasha does not just deliver curriculum. She makes it stick. Her submission for this award showcased a classroom where computer science is hands-on, joyful, and deeply meaningful to every student who walks through the door.
A few moments that stood out:
- Human loops in the hallway. To help students understand loops, Latasha takes the lesson off-screen entirely. Students physically act out the concept themselves, becoming the algorithm.
- Voice-recorded sprites. Second graders in Latasha's class do not just program characters to move. They record their own voices to bring those characters to life.
- Student-built apps. Latasha's students are not passive learners. They are builders, designing their own apps and telling their own stories through code.
These are not special occasions. This is just how Latasha teaches.
A Partner Who Elevates the Whole Community
The Ambassador award is not only about what happens inside four walls. It is about the educators who share what they learn, who help their peers grow, and who make the whole field better.
Latasha does all of that. Throughout the 2025-2026 school year, she engaged deeply with the Skill Struck team, offered honest classroom insights, and consistently shared her students' wins in ways that gave other teachers a real, followable roadmap. She has been a true partner, and her impact stretches far beyond Parkview Elementary.
A Story Worth Knowing
Latasha is also a survivor of seven brain surgeries and five back-to-back seizures. She was diagnosed as a child with Hydrocephalus, a condition that has required ongoing medical intervention throughout her life. She has never let it stop her.
When she tells her students they can do anything they put their mind to, they believe her, because she is proof.
Congratulations, Latasha!
Latasha, your dedication to your students, your creativity in the classroom, and your willingness to bring others along on this journey make you the perfect Ambassador of the 2025-2026 school year. We are so proud to celebrate you.
