Skill Struck’s Commitment to Accessibility Compliance

Skill Struck is fully VPAT and WCAG 2.2 AA compliant, exceeding current accessibility standards and ensuring all students can engage with digital learning resources. 

VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) is a document that evaluates how accessible a digital product is according to federal standards. WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) outlines specific and rigorous criteria to verify that websites and digital tools are usable for individuals with disabilities. Our platform includes:

  • Screen reader compatibility for students with visual impairments
  • Keyboard navigation to support alternative input methods
  • Alt text for images and interactive elements
  • Proper color contrast to aid students with visual processing challenges
  • Assistive technology integrations for seamless use across devices
  • Captions and transcripts for audio and video content to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students
  • Adjustable text size and spacing to improve readability for students with dyslexia or low vision

State Accessibility Requirements

More states are enforcing accessibility laws for digital learning tools to ensure all students have equal access to educational content. Compliance with these laws also helps districts maintain funding eligibility.​

  • Colorado: The Colorado Office of Information Technology mandates that vendors provide an independent third-party evaluation demonstrating that their products or services meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level A/AA standards. ​

  • California: California's Government Code Section 11135 requires that state agencies and entities receiving state funding ensure their electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities. Vendors must submit a completed VPAT to demonstrate compliance with Section 508 standards. ​

  • Texas: Texas Administrative Code Chapter 213 stipulates that state agencies and institutions of higher education must procure electronic and information resources that comply with accessibility standards. Vendors are required to provide accessibility documentation, often in the form of a VPAT, to verify adherence to these standards. ​

  • New York: New York State's Information Technology Policy NYS-P08-005 mandates that all state agency websites and applications comply with accessibility standards. Vendors must ensure their products meet these requirements, typically by providing a VPAT or similar documentation. ​
