Elementary Digital Citizenship

Teaching elementary students how to stay safe and respect others in a digital world. There are two units within this course - one for K-2 and one for 3-5.

Course Summary

This class was designed to help students learn how to keep themselves and others safe in the digital world. Students learn things like how to leave a positive digital footprint, how to recognize scams, how to be respectiful on the internet, etc.

Course Outline

    1. K-2: Digital Citizenship In this lesson you will discuss and recognize ways you can work respectfully and responsibly with others online.
    2. K-2: Technology in Our Lives Learn how technology has changed our lives and culture.
    3. K-2: Internet Safety and Cybersecurity Learn why strong passwords are important to use and practice your computer skills.
    4. K-2: Passwords Practice recognizing strong passwords and understand why it is important to use passwords online.
    5. K-2: Crediting Others Learn how to give credit to others online and why it is important to do so.
    6. K-2: Be Respectful Discuss and practice ways you can be respectful when using the computer.
    7. 3-5: Computers' Effect on Culture In this lesson, examine how computers and technology have had an impact on culture.
    8. 3-5: Impacts of Computing Learn about the impact computing technologies have.
    9. 3-5: Digital Footprint Learn how to have a positive and private footprint on the computer and internet.
    10. 3-5: Cyberbullying Learn about cyberbullying and how to stand up against it.
    11. 3-5: Kindness Discuss and learn about the valuable trait of kindness as a foundation for digital citizenship
    12. 3-5: Internet Safety and Cybersecurity Learn tips on how to be safe on the internet and protect their personal information in this lesson.
    13. 3-5: Accessibility and Improving Artifacts Learn about accessibility and improving programming for usability in this lesson.
