Course Summary

Students strengthen their knowledge of computers as they learn about computer parts, cybersecurity, digital citizenship, and block-based programming. This course includes an assessment, which you can assign to students from the Manage Assessments page. It is not automatically assigned when you assign the course.

Course Outline

    1. Computer Devices Review different computer devices and the needs that each device meets.
    2. Hardware and Software Review the different parts of the computer and what their functions are.
    3. Troubleshooting Review Troubleshooting solutions.
    4. How Technology Helps Us Every Day Students will learn more about how technology helps us everyday.
    5. Kindness and Empathy Students will learn more about kindness and empathy.
    6. Being Responsible with Devices and Online Words Students will learn more about being responsible with devices and online words.
    7. Healthy Tech Habits Students will learn more about healthy tech habits.
    8. Safe Online Choices Students will learn more about safe online choices.
    9. Password Power Students will learn more about passwords.
    10. The Internet and Cybersecurity Students will learn more about the internet and cybersecurity.
    11. Conducting Keyword Searches Students will learn more about how to conduct searches with keywords.

Course Project

In this course, students will complete several projects including: Mountains, Seasons, Maze, Let's Chat, Don't Get Caught, Big and Small, Meet and Greet, Fish Frenzy, Five Senses, School Subject, Tag!, Crossing the Road, Walk the Dog, Pattern Creation, Model Math, and Addition. This will help students build their foundational algorithm skills that will support them in their coding journey.
