Course Summary

JavaScript 3 introduces students to objects and how they’re used to organize and manage data in programs. Students explore object properties, methods, constructors, and how to interact with HTML elements and APIs. By the end, they’ll be able to build interactive web pages using objects and basic DOM manipulation.

Course Outline

    1. Intro to Objects This introductory lesson addresses objects and their uses.
    2. Project: Check Inventory Use JavaScript to simulate checking inventory of a warehouse.
    3. Declaring an Object Let's see how objects are declared and make some ourselves!
    4. Project: Fight Enemies Use JavaScript to make a mini game to fight enemies.
    5. Accessing Object Attributes/Properties Objects are great but not if we can't access the properties inside of it. This lesson covers how to save these properties and use them.
    6. Project: Start a Zoo Use JavaScript to make a 'zoo' with objects and constructors.
    7. Methods Similar to functions, methods allow us to run specific code on objects that we can create.
    8. Project: Have a Car Race Use JavaScript objects to simulate a car race.
    9. Constructors Constructors build a solid foundation for our objects. This lesson will teach us how to use constructors.
    10. Assigning Unique Names to Tags This lesson covers using class names and id names to identify your HTML elements easier.
    11. Project: Magic Moving Box Use jQuery and JavaScript to create a movable box on a web page
    12. jQuery jQuery is a useful JavaScript library that simplifies and adds to the JavaScript functionality.
    13. Project: Place an Order Use HTML and JavaScript to get an order from a user.
    14. getElementById getElementById is a great way to get HTML elements from your HTML file.
    15. Project: Calculator Website Use HTML and JavaScript to make a calculator web page
    16. Inner HTML Extracting the HTML out of an element can allow us to change, delete or add to the current content. This lesson covers how it's done.
    17. Project: To Do List Make a to do list using HTML and JavaScript
    18. Interaction Checkpoint This is the interaction checkpoint. Good luck!
    19. Project: Make an Idle Game Use JavaScript and HTML to make a simple idle game.
    20. APIs
